Vision
The Library Media Center serves as a integral part of Nettelhorst School's educational program and is the information hub of the school. A certified school library media specialist administers the library program and provides Information Literacy education through collaboration with classroom teachers. Library services promote a love of reading, support and enrich the curriculum and encourage life-long learning.
Mission
The mission of the Nettelhorst Library Media Center is to provide its patrons access to age-appropriate information in various formats, promote a love for reading, and develop effective and efficient users of ideas and information.

LMC Hours Supervised by LMC Staff
During the hours listed below, LMC Staff is available to supervise students. Due to safety concerns, students are not allowed in the Library Media Center before or after these hours of operation without special permission from Mrs. Kupec or parental supervision.
We need everyone's cooperation to continue open access to the library media center afterschool. Please respect that this is a shared space and assist in keeping it neat and orderly. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Collection
Our collection consists of approximately 9600 volumes including; fiction, nonfiction, picture books, chapter books, boardbooks, reference materials, and big books. There are also videos, DVDs, audio books, listening center audio tapes/CDs, Classical Music CDs, literature kits, flannel board stories, puppets, boardgames, puzzles, and math/language manipulatives.
Our online catalog is provided by the new Chicago Public Schools Integrated Library System named SOAR...bringing together over 8000 on site print materials and numerous district electronic resources for students and teachers who are Seeking Online Access to Resources.
We subscribe to a number of childrens' and professional periodicals, Tumblebooks, and Renaissance Place Accelerated Reader.
